Post Those Address Numbers!

Residents, business owners, and landlords are asked to clearly post address numbers in a prominent location on the street side of their structural property. Insure the numbers are in good physical condition and free from obstructions like bushes, tree limbs, decorative flags, or shadows that would make them difficult to see from the street. If numbers are posted on curbside mailboxes, be sure numbers are on BOTH sides as emergency responders may approach your address from either direction.

From the legal standpoint, both the Zoning and Fire codes in New Richmond REQUIRE the posting of house numbers: The ordinance states: "...every building must be identified with the appropriate assigned street address. The numbers must be in standard Arabic form of at least 3" x 2" or larger if necessary, to be seen from the nearest fronting road."

If your home or business is located far enough from the street to make reading the numbers impossible, please consider purchasing an aluminum address sign from the New Richmond Life Savers group. You may have noticed these green signs with white, reflective numbers mounted on mailbox and steel posts throughout the area. Signs cost $ 12.00 each and steel mounting posts, if needed, are an additional $ 5.00.
